MILFORD, Michigan (WXYZ) — He is accused of promoting conspiracy theories, asking Vice President Mike Pence to throw out Michigan’s election results, and taking bus loads of people with him to the U.S. Capitol for President Donald Trump’s now-infamous demonstration.

Some state lawmakers say there now needs to be action taken against Representative Maddock Maddock (R-Milford).

“We have a handful of Michigan legislators sending a letter to VP Pence today telling him not to certify the Michigan electors,” he told a crowd at a rally.
The Republican re-elected in November told the crowd he wanted Michigan’s November election results thrown out. This comes after he for months made allegations of election fraud, that courts did not just dismiss, but flat out said were not credible allegations.
He and his wife Meshawn Maddock, who is slated to become the next co-chair of the Michigan GOP, organized buses of people who went to President Trump’s infamous demonstration at the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday last week.
This week Democratic State lawmakers introduced two resolutions. One called for his censure, which is a formal reprimand. The other called for an investigation into whether Representative Maddock violated his oath to uphold the Michigan and U.S. Constitution and is in part responsible the insurrection at the U.S. Capitol.
“I cannot in good conscience allow us to have someone in the legislature who for months sowed that division and lies and distrust which led to those actions,” said Rep. Abraham Aiyash (D- Hamtramck)
“This is not about feelings. This is about facts. And we have reached the point where our constitution is in crisis and we need to make sure the elected officials we are putting in office are truly working to uphold that oath,” said House Democratic Leader Donna Lasinski (D-Scio Twp).
Gideon D’Assandro, Communications Director for the House GOP, responded saying quote, “The Speaker has seen no evidence that Rep. Maddock did anything that rises to the level of censure or expulsion. The resolutions will not be brought up for a vote.”
