DETROIT (WXY) — The legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King – honored by Detroiters tonight at the Fox Theatre.
Rev. Jesse Jackson, who was on that hotel balcony with Dr. King on that faithful day, reflecting on his friend and recognizing others who have continued the civil rights march in MLK's place.
One of the honorees tonight, under intense scrutiny right now by the FBI. But in many ways, many of the speakers tonight brought Dr. King's message of love and unity to today's times. The program was a rally cry for social justice and we talked one-on-one with a leader in the movement.
“Empower young people," Rev. Jesse Jackson said. "Don’t just give them pushes, but empower them. This should be the week of massive voter registration.”
