DETROIT (WXYZ) — Detroit police are investigating after a rideshare driver was shot in the thigh when picking up a customer from a location on the city's west side Sunday morning.
The shooting happened at 6:45 a.m. in the 9000 block of Grandville.
According to a preliminary investigation, the female rideshare driver was picking up a customer when she arrived at the given location and saw the customer damaging a vehicle that was in the driveway.
The customer then ran toward the rideshare vehicle and told the driver to pull off. A person then exited the home and fired shots, striking the driver in the thigh.
Police have not provided an update of the driver's condition.
The incident is still under investigation. The specific rideshare company was not described in preliminary information.
