(WXYZ) — The city of Rochester Hills has been named the safest small city in America for 2019, according to a report from Front Point Security.
Data analysts from the company looked into property crime data from the 2017 FBI crime report to determine the safest small cities in the U.S. That's defined as cities that have a population between between 50,000-75,000.
"As one of the larger cities on our list at 73,827 residents, Rochester Hills still ranks #1 with 471 total property crime instances reported in 2017. That’s just 6.38 property crimes per 1,000 residents," the report says.
West Bloomfield Township also appears in the top 10, at No. 6, saying, "A suburb of the Detroit metropolitan area, West Bloomfield Township had a population of 65,948 and is the second city in the Wolverine State to make the top 10 list."
Other cities from Michigan on the list include Royal Oak at No. 18, Novi at No. 29, Waterford Township at No. 37 and St. Clair Shores at No. 40.
