Suspect arrested in shooting of Saginaw Twp. police officer during traffic stop

SAGINAW TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WXYZ) — The suspect wanted for allegedly shooting a Saginaw Township police officer has been arrested, according to a report. Michigan State Police say 29-year-old Joshua Michael Rosebush was arrested in Shiawassee County around 1 p.m.

According to police, officers engaged in a brief pursuit with Rosebush in the county and he fired on officers. They returned fire, injuring Rosebush. No officers were injured and he was taken to the hospital.

Police say the shooting occurred around 2 a.m. on Tittabawassee Road, near Bay Road.

The officer, identified as Jeff Koenig, was reportedly approaching a vehicle during a traffic stop when he was shot in the face. Police say the suspect then left the scene.

The officer was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Police Chief Don Pussehl said this was the first time an officer in his department was shot during a traffic stop.
