School uses cupcakes to teach students about democratic process

Students use taste buds to vote for president

They're not quite old enough to legally cast a ballot, so students at elementary school in Sterling Heights created their own flavor of democracy.

The boys and girls and Schuchard Elementary decided their presidential candidate based on blue, red, or yellow cupcakes.

Blue for Hillary Clinton.

Red for Donald Trump.

Yellow for Gary Johnson.

Representatives reported electoral results from each classroom based the cupcakes which got the most votes.

Donald Trump came out on top with 270 votes.

The event was designed to teach the importance of casting a ballot on election day.
