Second EB I-696 weekend closure from Telegraph to I-75 in Oakland Co. starts Friday

Posted

The second weekend closure of eastbound I-696 from US-24/Telegraph to I-75 in Oakland County will begin on Friday.

The closure is part of the Michigan Department of Transportation's "Restore the Reuther" project from one end of the freeway to the other.

Beginning at 8 p.m. Friday, that stretch of EB I-696 will be closed through 5 a.m. Monday. Ramp and lane closures will start at M-10 to reduce eastbound traffic.

There will be lane closures on westbound I-696 from Telegraph to I-275 with one lane open at all times. Beginning next week, the EB I-696 ramp to Dequindre Road will be closed until mid-August for concrete removal and replacement.

The detour is southbound M-10 to eastbound Davison Freeway, then northbound I-75 to eastbound I-696.

Westbound I-696 remains closed in Macomb County from I-94 to Dequindre Road through the fall.
