A severe water main break has left streets flooded in Northville. The break happened on Baseline Rd. at Oakland Ave. overnight, and the flooding is being made worse by the rain and melting snow.
A couple of homes have been impacted by the water main break which happened at around 3:30 Friday morning.
Out of all the homes impacted by the water main break, Dawnmarie Ozog's home took the brunt of the water damage.
Her basement was flooded with six feet of water.
“It was like Niagara Falls, I mean it was just blowing in and I just stood there in shock," Ozog said.
Ozog says nearly everything she and her family had in the basement is gone.
This flood comes just one day before Ozog's daughter's wedding.
Thankfully, none of the wedding items that were in the basement got damaged.
“Saved the wedding dress, saved all the wedding stuff, now we just have to pack up," Ozog added.
Great Lakes Water Authority has been on scene and stopped the water from flowing a few hours after the water main broke.
Northville Mayor Brian Turnbull says it will take a day or two for GLWA to fix the water main.
There were no reported injuries during the water main break.
