A stray dog was found so severely matted in metro Detroit that a rescue group says it was hard to even tell he was a pooch.
The Grosse Pointe Animal Adoption Society wrote on their Facebook page that a man brought the dog to one of their facilities on Tuesday after finding him wandering. The dog was so matted he could barley walk.
The animal that the rescue group named Dakota was then taken to Harper Woods Veterinary Hospital where he was sedated and shaved down. The vet ended up removing 2.5 pounds of filth from Dakota.
Dakota is a male shih tzu estimated to be around 5 years old.
