The morning commute has become a lot smoother on I-696 in Oakland and Macomb Counties.
The westbound lanes were opened over the weekend and lots of drivers will have a much easier time getting to work Monday morning.
MDOT says favorable weather conditions have allowed crews to safely reopen westbound I-696 from I-94 to I-75 sooner than planned.
Crews closed two lanes Saturday morning on eastbound and westbound I-94 near I-696 to make the necessary changes to reopen ramps from I-94 to westbound I-696.
According to MDOT, drivers will be able to use westbound I-696 with all exit ramps open.
