Update62-year-old semi truck driver held in jail after deadly US-23 crash

Two people were killed and one person was critically injured after a major crash involving a semi and multiple vehicles on Sunday afternoon.

Southbound US-23 was closed for hours at Lee Road in Green Oak Township due to the crash.

According to police, the semi lost control and slammed into the back of six cars. In all, nine vehicles were involved in the accident.

Police said a 62-year-old man driving a semi truck failed to stop as he approached other vehicles on US-23. The truck slammed into multiple vehicles and left two occupants trapped.

A 51-year-old man from Milford was pronounced dead at the scene, police say. A 25-year-old woman was transported to the University of Michigan hospital with critical injuries.

A 52-year-old man from Davison was also pronounced dead at the scene, police added.

Police said the 62-year-old driver of the semi truck is being held in jail for committing a moving violation causing death.
