SOUTHFIELD (WXYZ) — The Southfield Public Library has closed "indefinitely" after an employee tested positive for the coronavirus, a post on the library's Facebook page announced Monday.

The library will be closed for a deep cleaning and staff who were exposed will be quarantined. Additionally, the library's drive-up window, phone reference and computer appointments will be closed.

If you already have checked-out items, you're asked to keep those materials until the library reopens. No fines will be assessed.

The library is expected to reopen to the public on Monday, Oct. 19.

Instead of checking out books and other items in-person, the Southfield Public Library let residents know there are other online options, which are listed below:

Our website is open with e-books, audio books, movies, music, children’s resources and many research sources at www.southfieldlibrary.org.

Our digital library at https://southfieldlibrary.org/digital-library/ is open for e-books, audio books, movies, music and more. The amount of checkouts available on these has been doubled.

We have children’s resources like ABCMouse, BookFlix and TumbleBooks at https://southfieldlibrary.org/digital-library/books.

We have research sources available with your library card including Mango Languages to learn a new language, Creativebug to learn a new hobby, Reference Solutions for business and consumer data and far more at https://southfieldlibrary.org/research-sources/by-title.
