(WXYZ) — Southfield Public Schools announced that schools would be closed on Tuesday due to the heat.
SPS said in a statement on their website that the closure is for all schools, school-related activities and evening activities.
Classes are expected to resume on September 6.

The Detroit Public Schools Community District also said it was dismissing students three hours early due to the heat.
The early dismissal will be based on the school's original dismissal time.
