Classes are canceled Friday for Southgate Community Schools.

This news, which was posted on the school district's Facebook page, comes after a threat was posted to an online school calendar, resulting in school closures across the district on Thursday.

During the day on Thursday, parents received a letter from Southgate Community Schools Superintendent Jill Pastor. The letter stated that school would resume on Friday.

"Tomorrow, school will be in session," Pastor wrote. "There is no reason to believe that members of our school community are in danger."

"If I honestly felt there was any danger, I would cancel school for tomorrow just like I did today. There will be a police presence tomorrow (Friday)."

Pastor added that the school district will not take lightly threats.

"Officers from the Southgate Police Department continue to investigate this threat and are looking into all potential leads," the letter read. "As a school district, we will not tolerate this type of behavior. We will follow our student Code of Conduct and consult with our legal team to enforce maximum penalties to those individuals who are found guilty of making threats against members of our school community and/or against Southgate Public Schools."

According to an auto recording by the district, classes have been canceled Friday due to another threat posted on an online school calendar.
