(WXYZ) — A St. Clair Shores couple who has been hit hard by the pandemic received some great news lately – they were chosen as one of three winners of a brand new Chevrolet Bolt as part of POWERHOME SOLAR's "PWR Your Life" sweepstakes.
“When it completely sunk in that we won a car, my wife was looking at me going, ‘This doesn’t happen to people like us,’” said Bob Prochaska, who owns and operates a vinyl and leather repair business. “We’ve never won anything like this.”
Bob and his wife Kathy were awarded their new vehicle on Tuesday. This came as a relief as Bob's business was negatively impacted by the pandemic. They were chosen out of thousands of automatic entries from homeowners who accepted a free in-home sales consultation in December with POWERHOME SOLAR, where it was discussed the value of installing solar at their homes.
The sweepstakes aims to increase awareness of sustainable and eco-friendly living.
“We talk about doing the right thing for customers all the time, and giving away three electric vehicles fits right into our messaging,” said POWERHOME SOLAR CEO Jayson Waller. “We want everyone to reduce their dependence on fossil fuels, not only for their electricity needs, but in the cars they drive.”
There will be more winners, with drawings happening for customers who have scheduled appointments in January and February, the company said.
