Bond denied for St. Clair Shores man charged in death of girlfriend at MGM hotel

A judge denied bond for a St. Clair Shores Man who was arraigned today in connection with the death of his girlfriend at Detroit's MGM hotel.

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy brought charges against Daniel S. Michalak, 33. 

The judge ordered that Michalak be remanded to jail and have no contact with the family of the victim. 

At 12:49 p.m. on Tuesday, May 29, hotel security along with Detroit police officers received information that led them to check a hotel room inside MGM, a release states. 

When authorities entered the room, they found the body of Tia Vellucci, 27, lying on the floor with multiple stab wounds and a bite wound to her nose. 

Michalak was arrested and has been charged with Assault with Intent to Murder, Assault with Intent to Maim and Assault with Intent to Do Great Bodily Harm.

He will be arraigned in 36th District Court at 2:30 p.m.

The case remains under investigation while awaiting the Wayne County Medical Examiner's report and other forensic testing.
