Nicholas Koerner, a 23-year-old Shelby Township man is locked up after police say he held up a National Coney Island.
Turns out he lied about having a gun, and employees say the only weapon on him was a knife.
After pacing the restaurant, employees say Koerner tried to grab purses from behind the counter in addition to demanding money.
Before he got any money, a manager reportedly punched him in the face and dragged him outside, where employees and customers held him until police could arrive.
Koerner is being held on $150,000 bond, and has a criminal history with drug abuse and home invasions.
