A 23-year-old Sterling Heights woman is facing a federal charge after she was allegedly counterfeiting and cashing checks.

Michigan State Police troopers began investigating bad checks back in August 2017 in Kalkaska. A Kalkaska Screw Products Inc. representative reported that someone had counterfeited and cashed some of their checks downstate.

The total value of the checks was over $2,500.

The employees developed a possible suspect via Facebook and troopers gathered evidence including bank records and surveillance video.

Carley Clark was arrested and charged with Uttering and Publishing.
