MILFORD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WXYZ) — A stolen vehicle was abandoned at Kensington Metropark in Milford Township after a police chase.

On August 4, troopers attempted to stop the vehicle near the I-275 and Canton rest area, but it fled on westbound I-96. The vehicle was lost near Milford Road, but was eventually located in the middle of the woods after it drove onto a bicycle trail in the park.

Police say a K-9 track led troops to the edge of the lake where they located one of the suspects' shirt.

A significant search around the area did not locate the suspect, police say. Believing the suspects swam to a nearby island, troopers used a MetroPark PD boat to check the island with the K-9. Moments later, police say both suspects surrendered because they observed police looking for them. There were no injuries and both male suspects had felony warrants, police say.
