(WXYZ) — Royal Oak police have confirmed a string of cell phone store robberies throughout metro Detroit.

Police say four suspects wearing black hats, gloves and masks threw a rock through the window of a Sprint store on 31668 Woodward in Royal Oak.

The suspects got away with eight to 10 phones, police say.

Royal Oak police confirmed two other businesses were hit: Another Sprint location on 29000 block of Southfield Road and Verizon Go Wireless on 27905 Orchard Lake Road in Farmington Hills.

On Friday, the City of Brighton Police Department also reported a store break-in done similar to the ones described by Royal Oak police.

Around 5 a.m. on Dec. 27, Brighton officers responded to an alarm at a Target on 8043 Challis Road. Police arrived on scene minutes later to find the store's two glass entry doors had been smashed. There was also damage to display cases in the store, police say.

After processing the scene, the initial investigation indicated that five suspects pictured above took multiple cell phones, watches and other merchandise.

Police say the suspects left in a smaller, light-colored SUV in an unknown direction. The suspects were in and out of the store in just under two minutes, according to police.

Right now, the Royal Oak Police Department says they are investigating their cases as being possibly connected to Brighton.

Anyone with information about the Target break-in is asked to call Brighton detectives at (810) 844-5187.
