Something's brewing in Detroit. Stroh's Beer returns home! The company is making its new Bohemian-style pilsner out of Brew Detroit and beer lovers can't wait to get their hands on a bottle.
"Stroh's is an iconic Detroit brand. It grew up with the city, originating here in 1850," said Eric Phillips, the Brand Manager for Stroh Brewery Company.
Stroh's left Detroit in the 1980's and has been brewing outside of Michigan since, but they are returning with a new beer that has a nostalgic taste.
"It's a Bohemian-style pilsner, however it's based on some of the old recipes, the 1850's recipes."
So, what's on tap for the company here?
They plan on rolling out with the new beer this week.
Phillips said, "It's a really crisp, refreshing, well balanced beer. In this beer, we are using all German ingredients."
You can find the new beer in a bottle or on tap from a keg.
"This is the first time that Stroh's will be available in kegs in over 20 years so it's a really exciting thing,' he explained. "We were very excited about the orders that came in. They've exceeding what we internally had projected. It's the culmination of a lot of hard work and long hours by a ton of people, so by getting products out on the shelves it's really exciting."
Starting Tuesday, you can buy the new Bohemian-style pilsner from retailers and starting Friday you can order it at restaurants.
Some of the retailers include specialty craft beer stores, as well as Meijer, Rite Aid, CVS, Kroger, etc.
