DETROIT, Mich. - (WXYZ) — As we are seeing the COVID-19 numbers going down and businesses opening up, job seekers are ready to get back to work and employers are eager to fill those vacant positions.
The job market certainly isn’t strong but that doesn’t mean companies aren’t hiring. They are and we’re taking a look at the best place for you to start.

"There's an assumption that businesses aren't hiring right now and that is not true," Jennifer LLewellyn, manager of Workforce Development and Director of Oakland County Michigan Works Agency.
Michigan Works, the states primary system for both job seekers and employers.
"Assisting them with their job search, retraining, new occupation or career and also serving as the direct connection between businesses and job seekers," Llewellyn said.
Llewellyn’s best advice for job hunters is to approach with a positive attitude, be open to re-tooling, and targeting the sectors hiring.
"We're seeing a lot of the essential positions, so retail positions, delivery positions, an increase in IT positions, social media positions," Llewellyn said.
Costco customer service reps, Panerabakers, Medical Record Technicians and Cyber security Engineers. Employers are searching to fill those positions and more right now.

"Be strategic, target companies, organizations, and positions that you're interested in," Llewellyn said.
Just as jobs are looking different, employers are also changing up the interview and hiring process.
"As we see retail beginning to open up in several different locations, we're definitely going to need more people," said Kelly Taylor, Allied UniversalSecurity Regional Recruiting Director for the Midwest.
Allied Universal is a security company now hiring for grocery stores, retail shops, restaurants and universities.
In a COVID-19 world, they’re using a non-contact process by texting applicants, video interviewing, and their newest initiative, drive up applying.
"We started the parking lot hiring, the drive up hiring since the COVID pandemic has started," Taylor said.
With a planned parking lot job fair happening next week in Detroit.
"Michigan is looking to hire about 100 people," Taylor said.
They’re looking for both full and part time employees and offering a benefit package with medical, dental and even tuition reimbursement.
"We're going to have operations folks on staff that are going to interview them right on the spot and potentially let them drive away with a job offer," Taylor said.
"We had a booming economy in Southeast Michigan pre-COVID. We're hopeful that will continue as we return to work," Llewelyn said.

Allied Universal has a drive up hiring job fair. Applicants are invited to drive up to the parking lot at the Greater Grace Temple at 23500 W. Seven Mile Road in Detroit, Michigan on June 10th from 10 am to 2 pm to connect with hiring managers.
