ST. CLAIR SHORES, Mich. (WXYZ) — Ryan Speer from Scottsdale, Arizona says while in the area to visit family, he witnessed a horrifying fire. He saw a F-150 truck rolling down I-94 and Ten Mile in Eastpointe engulfed in flames. It then crashed into the median. He wrote WXYZ, asking if the people inside the truck got out okay. We went to work to get answers.

We learned they did.

Andrey Bruck, of Carleton, says he was driving down the interstate when he smelled smoke. He pulled over, realized his truck was on fire, and told his two passengers to get out. They did. They called 911 as the fire quickly grew. In a matter of minutes the truck was destroyed.

“We were talking to the police officer and all of a sudden the truck starts rolling away,” said Kaitlen Frederick, one of the passengers.

“It was kind of like, wow. There it goes,” said Bruck.

The fire must have burned through the brakes, they figure. The flames were so intense onlookers could not tell no one was in the moving truck any longer.

Bruck says the fire comes the day before his birthday. He and his passengers say as they jumped out of the burning truck, right next to traffic, they did fear getting hit by drivers speeding by. They are grateful he made it to his 20th birthday.

“I want to live to be a little bit older at least,” said Bruck.

“I hate that this happened right before his birthday, but I am glad we are all okay,” said Gillian Bradley, Bruck’s girlfriend who was also in the truck.
