Michigan State Police say a third person has been charged in the 2017 murder of Egypt Covington.
Egypt was 27 years old when she was murdered inside her Van Buren Township home in June 2017. She was tied up with Christmas lights and shot to death.
Shandon Ray Groom, 28, of Toledo, Ohio, was arraigned on charges Dec. 31.
Two other people have been arraigned in the case; Shane Lamar Evans, a 31-year-old male from Sumpter Township on charges of homicide-felony murder and first-degree home invasion, and Timothy Moore, a 34-year-old male who was arraigned on one count of homicide in Ohio.
Groom is charged with felony murder and first-degree home invasion. He was remanded to county jail as the investigation continues.

Some of Egypt's relatives have been critical of the investigation that for so long had only been in the hands of Van Buren Township police, and they were eager to see State Police approach the case with a fresh set of eyes in hopes that an arrest would be made sooner.
