(WXYZ) — With the COVID-19 pandemic forcing some people to re-consider their Thanksgiving day plans, some people may be hosting a virtual Thanksgiving this year.
Gov. Gretchen Whitmer is encouraging people to avoid going to other people's homes for the holiday, and instead, celebrate differently.
If you're planning on hosting a virtual Thanksgiving, there are several things you should consider, and Comcast has several tips for those who are trying it.
The first, according to Comcast, is to pick a platform like Zoom, Facetime or WhatApp, and then agree who will host the event. It was announced this week that Zoom was dropping the 40-minute limit for Thanksgiving.
Second, think about planning a menu together, or cooking meals at the same time.
One of the most important things is to check your WiFi strength where you plan to spend most of the virtual Thanksgiving, and think about external cameras and microphones.
