Detroit police are looking for two suspects after a transgender woman was shot early this morning on the city's west side.

According to police, the victim, a 36-year-old transgender woman, was shot during a robbery in the area of 17800 Woodward, just north of McNichols, and police were called to the scene.

They got a suspect vehicle description, and tried pulling over a vehicle matching the description. That vehicle took off, and police followed, chasing the suspect.

The chase came to an end near Canfield and Russell in Midtown with both suspects fleeing on foot.

A third suspect, a 29-year-old man, was taken into custody and a long gun was recovered. The victim remains in serious condition.

It happened near a Detroit GreenLight gas station, so police hope to get surveillance video from the scene.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Detroit Police Department at 313-596-5840 or 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
