(WXYZ) — Michigan State Police put out a warning earlier this week that they would be targeting drivers on the Lodge Freeway and on I-96, and they made hundreds of traffic stops.
"Operation Freeway of Love" and "Operation Westside" took place on July 29 and 30, and troopers were looking to target drivers more likely to cause a traffic crash.
On Thursday morning, MSP released the statistics from those operations.
In all, police made 512 traffic stops. Of those, 63 were for a seat belt, 164 or speeding, 31 for texting, three for careless driving, 90 for uninsured driver, seven for suspended license and more.
