President Donald Trump is warning Russia that missiles will be coming to Syria following an the suspected use of chemical weapons over the weekend, also calling Syrian President Bashar al-Assad a "Gas Killing Animal."

In a tweet on Wednesday morning, Trump said, "Russia vows to shoot down any and all missiles fired at Syria. Get ready Russia, because they will be coming, nice and new and 'smart!' You shouldn't be partners with a Gas Killing Animal who kills his people and enjoys it!"

On Monday, Trump said a decision would come "over the next 24 to 48 hours" on whether or not Syria would pay a "big price," for the alleged chemical weapons attack.

Both Russia and Syria have denied playing a role in the chemical attack in Douma, near the capital of Damascus. Instead, they say rebels in Douma made up the attack.

A year ago, Trump ordered an air strike on a Syrian air base after a chemical attack in the country.

Last week, he said he wanted to withdraw US troops from Syria as soon as possible
