(WXYZ) — Winter fans will be happy to hear this! Looks like we'll finally see some decent snow around Metro Detroit to start the week. Two storms will pass to our southeast with the second one forecast to have a closer track leading to more snow. When you combine these two storms together you get impressive totals for the Detroit area. Here's the breakdown.
Tonight - Monday morning
The Winter Weather Advisory officially goes into effect at midnight with the first batch of snow arriving tonight. Around 1" - 3" of snow is expected by Monday morning. Be sure to allow extra time in the morning since roads could be slick or snow covered.
Monday night - Tuesday morning
Monday night and Tuesday morning's snowfall will be heavier and more widespread. We are expecting another 3" - 6" of snow on top of the previous amounts from Monday morning. If the storm continues to trend west and totals appear to go even higher, some locations may be upgraded to a Winter Storm Warning so stay tuned on that.
Here's the snow forecast for the entire storm.
Things will calm down by Tuesday night but temps will tumble into the sub-zero ranges in some areas with wind chills from 0° to -12°
