(WXYZ) — UAW Regional Director Vance Pearson has announced his resignation, the UAW said Sunday morning.

Pearson's resignation comes in the wake of a federal investigation involving both him and UAW President Gary Jones, who announced his resignation less than a week ago.

The UAW announced the filing of Article 30 charges against Pearson and Jones by the UAW's International Executive Board. The charges would have expelled both men from the their elected positions as well as from the union entirely.

The allegations brought against Pearson and Jones say that the men "directed the submission of false, misleading and inaccurate expense records" while continuing to hide those alleged false expenses from the board.

In the complaint filed against Pearson, it is alleged that he was involved in actions that allowed for invoices for the 2016 UAW conference to be billed as off-site expenses, without having pertinent information, making them "false, misleading, and/or incomplete"

Following the charges, Pearson announced his resignation, which is effective immediately – adding that he will be retiring early.

Following Jones' resignation, the UAW revealed additional information pertaining to the Article 30 charges filed against the embattled former UAW president. Jones is accused of having almost $250,000 in off-site expenses that were billed as an on-site reception for the 2014 Leadership Conference in Palm Springs. As part of the charges, the UAW alleges that Jones also arranged for his daughter to stay in one of the UAW-rented townhouses after the conference had ended.

According to a release, Pearson is also resigning his UAW membership, effective immediately.
