UM student who broke his neck attends first game

Posted

Nearly two months ago, Taylor Janssen, of Commerce Township, went diving into Lake Sherwood to retrieve a volleyball.

What he didn't know when he jumped in was that he was diving into the shallow part of the lake. Janssen broke his neck when he landed, and has been fighting at U of M Hospital to get back to living his life ever since.

Janssen, who was scheduled to be a junior this year, had a goal of attending the first Michigan Football game of the season. After undergoing intensive physical therapy, he was at the game to watch the Wolverines beat the Oregon State Beavers on Saturday afternoon.

His GoFundMe page, set up by a fraternity brother, also posted a video update after Labor Day weekend.
