TORONTO — Unifor’s Master Bargaining Committee has reached a tentative agreement for 9,000 members working at Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, preventing a midnight strike at its Canadian plants in Windsor, Brampton, Etobicoke, Mississauga, Montreal, and Red Deer.
Unifor’s National President will provide more information at a 10 a.m. news conference that will be streamed live on FacebookThursday morning.
The details of the tentative agreement will be presented first to Unifor members during a series of virtual ratification meetings over the weekend, and members will vote on whether to accept the agreement over a 24-hour period, starting at 10 a.m. on Sunday, according to Unifor.
Unifor is Canada’s largest union in the private sector, representing 315,000 workers in every major area of the economy.
