(WXYZ) — Members of the Michigan Congressional delegation were with President Joe Biden during his visit to Ford's Dearborn truck plant.

Among them was Congresswoman Elissa Slotkin who is joining us for the 7 UpFront segment tonight.

You can see the full interview tonight in the video player above.

"It was a super upbeat event. I was, actually, surprised by how emotional I felt by being there. The truck, by the way, is awesome," Slotkin says. "It just felt like we were looking at the situation and saying 'okay, we're behind right now' compared to the electric vehicles that China is producing and the component parts. But, you know, we were behind in the Space Race back 40/50 years ago and we surged forward and were first on the moon. That's kinda the moment we're at right now, and I think with the infrastructure that we're going to lay down on electric vehicles and just making really awesome electric vehicles that people want to buy, I think it's going to put us in a very different place. So it's upbeat."
