(WXYZ) — We're following some good news when it comes to higher education in Michigan. Earlier this month, plans were announced to reopen Michigan's only Historically Black College.

We're discussing the bright future of the Pensole Lewis College of Business and Design in the 7 UpFront segment with Dr. D'Wayne Edwards.

You can see the full interview in the video player above.

"It was founded by Violet T. Lewis in 1928, an amazing woman, an amazing entrepreneur, one of three Black women to found any HBCU," Edwards says. "She moved to Detroit in 1939 and the school was instrumental in GM, Ford, Michigan Bell, and several other Michigan companies employing their first Black office employees, they were graduates of Lewis College of Business."
