(WXYZ) — In tonight's 7 UpFront segment we're taking a closer look at the conflict raging in Ukraine.
We're being joined by retired Lieutenant General Richard Newton to talk about it.

"We're four weeks into this and on the night of February 24th and my prediction was with the mass and capabilities of what we thought the Russian military was capable of that this would be over in several days," Newton says. "But now we're into week four, they're bogged down, they're off their timeline. Putin is now dug in, but he's dug in to the point where his only ability is to create effects in the battlefield, and particularly in those cities, it the shelling of innocent civilians and the atrocities just keep going up. And so, it's a very, very difficult situation for the Ukrainian people, but they have certainly shown a remarkable resolve."
