What the new space race means for the future of the final frontier

(WXYZ) — In tonight's 7 UpFront segment we're delving a bit deeper into the new frontier further opened by Sir Richard Branson and Jeff Bezos with their trips into space.

Joining us is Mike Narlock with the Cranbrook Planetarium to talk about it.

"To have a private citizen, private company to be able to do what before what only governments and nations had the resources to do is just mindblowing and the fact this is just one of many that is going to go up is just an amazing time to be alive," Narlock says. "It's certainly human nature to keep exploring and we've explored the depth of the oceans, and of course there's more to see there, and we've explored the solar system and now to have an opportunity where you don't have to be a specialist, there might be an opportunity for family vacations to the moon or to a space station is the stuff of science fiction and it may become science fact in our lifetimes."
