Just weeks after announcing they have plans to hire 100,000 seasonal employees this year, UPS is holding a one-day hiring blitz on Friday, Oct. 19 across the country. They anticipate to sign up nearly 40,000 of those 100,000 employees on Friday.

The hiring is to help with the anticipated increase in package volume from November through January.

In metro Detroit, there are several events. They are from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at these locations

  • Howell - 1212 Fendt. Dr.
  • Pontiac - 1056 Cesar Chavez
  • Livonia - 29855 Schoolcraft
  • Ypsilanti - 540 S. Mansfield St.
  • Wixom - 49524 Martin Rd.

Plus hiring in Toledo, Kalamazoo, Lansing, Muskegon, Flint and more.

Those who can't make the job fairs are encouraged to apply online at UPSjobs.com.

The full and part-time jobs that are open include package handlers, drivers and driver-helpers.

UPS says 35 percent of seasonal workers have gone on to be hired permanently in the last three years.
