Charity event in Romeo to benefit veterans

Posted

There’s an end of summer Woodstock-style concert taking place in Romeo where you’re all but guaranteed to have a good time. It takes place Sunday, September 20.

There are three bands, a pig roast dinner and the cost of your ticket is tax deductible. Just about everything has been donated and all proceeds benefit area vets.

It's called VRH Vetfest 2015. VRH stands for Vets Returning Home. It's a local non-profit committed to helping vets get back on their feet. The woman behind it all is Sandy Bower. She and her volunteers provide vets with transitional housing, help accessing benefits, and job training at no cost to the veteran.

Providing that kind of support gets expensive so to raise money, Sandy has organized and end of summer bash. It's a concert. It's a party. It's a patriotic celebration of our nation and our veterans.

The Dave Shelby Band and The Joey Vee Band will get the party started but the headlining act is Madison Rising, The #1 patriotic band in the nation. Tickets are $100/$75 for Veterans. Kids 12 and under get in free. Tickets are tax deductible and all proceeds benefit Detroit area vets.

In addition to music and a pig roast dinner, there is a beer and wine tent, pop, free parking and activities for the kids.
