Victim in Eastpointe basement shooting dies, suspect charged with second-degree murder

EASTPOINTE, Mich. (WXYZ) — A suspect has been charged in the fatal shooting of a man in the basement of an Eastpointe home over the weekend.

The shooting happened on Sunday, March 17 around 1 a.m. in the 23000 block of Normandy Ave.

The victim was critically injured when the suspect, Jeremy Michael Schodowski, allegedly went into the basement of a home and shot the victim in the head. Police said Monday the victim died from his injuries.

Schodowski, 21, is now charged with second-degree murder, two counts of felony firearm, involuntary manslaughter and possession of a controlled substance.

Schodowski was arraigned in 38th District Court Monday, and is being held on a $2 million bond.
