DETROIT (WXYZ) — A 23-year-old man has been listed in stable condition after trying to escape being robbed in Detroit Friday night.

According to police, the victim was walking in the area of Alaska and Wetherby when a blue Chevy sedan pulled up next to him.

An armed suspect on the passenger side got out of the vehicle, approached the victim and demanded his money. Police say the victim complied.

The suspect then became distracted by a second vehicle that had either pulled up or passed by, resulting in the victim attempting to run away, police say.

As the victim ran, the suspect allegedly fired multiple shots in his direction and struck him. The Chevy sedan then sped off in an unknown direction.

The investigation is ongoing.
