GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WXYZ) — One Grand Rapids neighborhood must have been "beary" surprised.
A male bear had wandered out of the wild right into a neighborhood tree on Sunday morning.
According to WOOD-TV, it's not uncommon to see young black bears wandering in the spring, even into cities. Sometimes they make their way into a city, get confused and then hide in a tree.
The Michigan Department of Natural Resources used a tranquilizer to get the bear down. They say the bear is docile and was likely just looking for a home.
The bear was checked out by DNR officials and is now back in the wild.
This clip captured last night of a bear that wandered into the city. The curious docile animal is currently waiting on a ride from DNR back to the safety of the wild. Officers are standing by with it in the 1600 block of Horton St SE until DNR arrives. pic.twitter.com/1I4rH7D1W4
