MSP was called to assist the Taylor police early Thursday for an alleged domestic assault case. The suspect's vehicle, a red Jeep, was spotted on the freeway. Police attempted to make a traffic stop on I-96, but the vehicle sideswiped a patrol car.
State troopers were able to stop the suspect by boxing him in on the ramp of Davison Ave. to eastbound I-96.
No injuries were reported and the suspect was taken into custody without incident.
There were two young children in the vehicle. Both were transported to local hospitals as a precaution, said police.
Troopers will be submitting a request to the prosecutor's office for fleeing and eluding, resisting and obstructing and child endangerment. The domestic assault portion of the investigation will be handled by Taylor Police Department.
