New video shows Highland Park firefighters battling intense flames inside their own fire truck.
It happened last week near Woodward and 6 Mile in Detroit.
Highland Park Fire Chief Kevin Coney said fire officials were responding to numerous calls due to last week's wild wind storm.
Coney said their engine caught fire as they were returning from a scene assisting with downed power lines.
The blaze left the fire department without a ladder truck, which they use to rescue civilians and fight high-rise fires.
Coney said the city is now receiving assistance from Hamtramck and Detroit while it waits for an insurance company to assess the damages and provide a replacement.
No one was injured in the fire.
