On Dec. 13, 2014, the WXYZ family lost a legend. Longtime anchorman Bill Bonds died after suffering a heart attack. He was 82.
Bonds started at WXYZ-TV in 1963 and worked at the station until 1968. He returned three years later in 1971, working until his retirement in 1995.

He was one of the reasons WXYZ dominated the ratings throughout the 70s, 80s, 90s and up into the millennium.
