A warming trend is on the way for Metro Detroit starting today and continuing into early next week. Many refer to mild January weather as a "January Thaw".
However, Is this truly a "January Thaw" when we're barely even frozen? All jokes aside, it's not unheard of to witness mild weather this time of year.
In fact, despite our cold and snowy winter last year, we still managed to have 5 days in January with 50 degree temperatures or warmer (the mildest was 57° on January 11, 2017.)
While we won't hit the 50s weekend, you may want to take advantage of above average temperatures, soak up some sunshine and maybe take down those Christmas lights.
The next change for any precipitation will hold off until Monday.
