WARREN, Mich. (WXYZ) — An 18-year-old man was charged Thursday morning for the alleged murder of his 20-year-old girlfriend.

Kevin Dixon was charged with first-degree murder, a life felony; carrying a concealed weapon, a five-year felony; and Felony Firearm, a two-year felony.

Prosecutors say that Dixon and the victim allegedly got into a heated argument while sitting in a van in the driveway of his home in Warren. The victim recorded the suspect where he was reportedly pointed a black handgun at her, threatening her and loading bullets into the gun. Prosecutors say the victim was shot shortly after the video ended.

Dixon then allegedly drove the van into Eastpointe with the victim still in the van, where he was pulled over for driving erratically.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene at 5:51 p.m.

“This is the sixth murder case resulting from a domestic violence situation my office has received in the past two month,” said Macomb County Prosecutor Eric J. Smith in a news release. “My staff and I are committed to the continued prosecution of these offenders to the fullest extent under the law. These acts will NOT be tolerated in our community.”

“Please, if you are facing an imminent violent situation, leave the situation immediately and call police. Do not stay and record the incident. It could be the difference between life and death.”
