Washtenaw County Sheriff warns residents to lock their cars due to multiple larcenies

The Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office is strongly encouraging its residents, visitors, citizens and students to lock their vehicles after several larcenies in Ypsilanti Township and one home invasion in Scio Township.

Between Nov. 9 and Nov. 10, three larcenies occurred, and on Nov. 9, a home invasion occurred.

The home invasion took place in Scio Township between 9 p.m. on Nov. 8 and 6:35 a.m. on Nov. 9 in the 600 block of Hawthorne Avenue. Unknown suspects entered an unlocked mobile home and stole two televisions, then fled in an unknown direction.

Police say the first larceny was reported on Nov. 10 at 10:40 a.m. in the 5100 block of Applewood Drive. Between 7 p.m. Nov. 9 and 10:40 a.m. Nov. 10, unknown suspects entered an unlocked vehicle stealing a wallet, cash, credit cards, stereo equipment and miscellaneous items.

The second larceny was reported on Nov. 10 at 7:35 p.m. in the 7900 block of Briarbrook Drive. Police say between 11 p.m. Nov. 9 and 12 p.m. Nov. 10, unknown suspects entered an unlocked vehicle stealing a backpack and textbooks.

The third larceny occurred in the 7800 block of Lake Crest Court. Between 1 p.m. Nov. 9 and 6 p.m. Nov. 10, police say unknown suspects entered an unlocked vehicle stealing a wallet, credit cards, checkbook and miscellaneous items.
