Wayne-Westland Community Schools announced that all K-12 students will now receive free breakfast and lunch.
The Community Eligibility Provision allows schools in low-income areas to provide free breakfast and lunch to all students.
“I am extremely pleased Wayne-Westland Community Schools is now able to provide free lunch to all its students. We strive to meet the needs for all students to create the best learning environment possible. Being under the Community Eligibility Provision will show to have great benefits in the district” said Shelley Holt, Wayne-Westland Community Schools Superintendent.
The district will be receiving reimbursements for the costs of the meals from the state of Michigan under the CEP provision. The initiative does not cost anything for the district and no money will be taken out of the general fund for this program.
