Michigan State Police say a man was killed after the box truck he was driving crashed into the back of a semi on westbound I-96 at Milford Rd. early Thursday morning. The highway is still closed.
According to police, the semi began having engine problems about 5;50 a.m. near Kent Lake and the semi driver was able to pull over mostly on the shoulder.
The driver of the box truck was going west on I-96 when it slammed into the rear-end of the semi, and the driver was killed instantly, police say.
Michigan State Police say to expect delays as a crash investigation is beginning and to take another route, if possible.
Update: Westbound I 96 is now closed at Milford as Troopers are directing traffic off the freeway. We are also seeing huge gawker delays eastbound I 96 as well. If you can avoid I 96 on your commute do it! We will continue to update. pic.twitter.com/bFkTvILAJr
