DETROIT (WXYZ) — A controversy has turned into a potential club banger after one Detroit rapper released a song about drivers who illegally blocked off traffic on the John C. Lodge Freeway last week to do donuts.

"We on the Lodge wit it," which has become a popular reference after a woman is overheard in the now viral social media video saying those words.

Now, that phrase has inspired a new song by GmacCash.

The song begins with a voice over from a local news personality reporting on the incident before Cash drops the chorus, "We on the Lodge wit it (expletive). We on the Lodge wit it. We on the Lodge wit it (c'mon). Doing donuts on the Lodge wit it."

The song has been posted to Youtube and is available on Apple iTunes.

Detroit police held a news conference Monday to discuss their investigation into the incident, saying that a 25-year-old Canton man had been arrested. The viral video also helped police identify six other vehicles involved. Now, the woman heard in the video is saying she's receiving backlash after posting it to social media.

The Canton man was issued a number of citations for violations and his car was impounded. He was released from police custody pending additional charges.

One post of the video was retweeted more than 1,000 times with nearly 5,000 likes. Many calling the activity "stupid" while pointing out the potential dangers. While others say it was just a group having "a little fun."

A forensic analysis will be conducted on each of the vehicles in the video in order to verify if any are involved in criminal acts, said Detroit Police Chief James Craig.
